This sudden feeling of hope, this feeling that the good guys actually won for a change? This confidence that our government might be on the right track? That I’m not the only one? This euphoria that the masses are with me, that the majority actually has views similar to mine? Is that what they felt just 14 months ago? I don’t know.

What I do know is this. The utter despair that some of my friends are feeling today, I did not have that 14 months ago. Sure I was disappointed with how the presidential race turned out, but then again I was disappointed prior to that at how the primaries turned out. I was not “excited” to cast a vote for John McCain back in ’08. How could I be excited when I knew hands down that there was no way he was winning in my state, and his voting record was almost as liberal as that of his opponent?

I think this thing may fall apart for the Democrats sooner rather than later on a national level. It seems voters flip-flop as bad as the men and women they elect. I think the Democrats misread their sweeping success of ’08 as either a mandate or a blank check to do whatever they felt like doing. What I find strange though is that they couldn’t see the writing on the wall last summer. If over half of those you believe you rule over don’t like what you are trying to do, maybe you should rethink what you are doing!

Now, I know Rome wasn’t built in a day, but nor did it crumble overnight. It did take 8 years of the Bush administrations ridiculous policy of CUTTING taxes while INCREASING spending, paired with Bawney Fwank’s INSASNE policies of guaranteeing loans made to people who had 0% chance of paying it back, and don’t forget the “Wall Street greed” that went along with all of it, to create this fiasco we currently sit in. That said, the populace is angry. A year into the new administration and the debt is skyrocketing, soldiers are still being blown apart overseas, unemployment is as high as it has ever been, homes are not retaining their value, and now you want more control?

We, the voters of Massachusetts just elected what appears to be a fine man to represent us in the U.S. senate. We, the independents, the republicans, and oh yes even the democrats of Massachusetts are telling you to STOP, rethink what you are doing, give us the transparency you said you would, because if we, the voters from Massachusetts have had enough of the B.S., well just think what our fellow countrymen and women are going to do to you come November.

R WE STUPIT?

Does taxing the pharmaceutical companies an extra $22 billion and medical device manufacturers’ an extra $19 billion really make healthcare more affordable? Do we think Pfizer just says “oh well, those profit margins were nice while had ‘em”? Or do they do what any company does when they are hit with new costs- Raise prices!

Companies need to make X% profit to stay in business. Look at gas, if the price of oil goes up the price of gas goes up, because oil costs the companies money to obtain, it is a “cost”. Taxes are “costs” too. If we hit up Exxon for more tax $$$ then they will be forced to raise the price at the pump to recoup that “cost”, and maintain a profit margin of X%. Tobacco is a perfect example- When the tobacco industry was sued and forced to pay out huge amounts of dough in settlements they were forced to either raise their prices drastically or close up shop (too bad they chose option a).

Why do nations impose tariffs on imported goods? The people exporting those goods to the nation have to tack that money onto the price paid by the consumer, thus creating an advantage in the price category for the domestic producers of similar goods. So is it really a stretch to assert that those in control of Washington now want to raise the cost of private healthcare in order to secure an advantage for the “public option”, eventually doing away with the private sector altogether?

You, the end user, the consumer, you pay. Not the big corporations, not the share-holders of the corporations, not the insurance companies, not the “rich”, but you. That is the way it has always been, the way it will always be. One way or another, the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” will cost you in the long run.

See the last line of the AP article- “Resolving these policy issues would be a historic accomplishment for Democrats. But the bill could still leave consumers feeling a little cheated.”

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_health_care_overhaul

Sleep Tight

You wake up in a cold sweat, your world crashing in around you. You turn on MSNBC and watch in horror as Olbermann breaks down the latest horror story coming out of Washington. You thought it was bad enough that in the 1st 100 days of the new administration we had lost our funding for studying the migration habits of yellow perch, cracked down unfairly on companies that are kind enough to employ undocumented migrant workers, and our military is now actually killing people in Afghanistan. “How could it get any worse” you wonder aloud. How did all these idiots not see this coming? You knew all along what a mistake it was to have Sarah Palin just “a heartbeat away” from the Presidency. When that wack-job senator from Arizona had a heart attack during the inauguration, you were not surprised; you had warned people about this. How could America have been so stupid? Well now they will see for themselves just how crazy this bitch really is. The unthinkable is happening right before your eyes as tomorrow congress is going to vote on Palin’s latest far right-wing initiative: Drilling in Alaska’s wilderness…. The HORROR!!!!!!!

You wake up again, this time for real, and you realize it was all just a bad dream. THANK GOD! You breathe a sigh of relief as you realize things are as they should be. The government has a firm grasp on the banking, housing, and auto industries, the US Army is still using rubber bullets with kind interrogation methods, and the big legislation on the table is the much needed government takeover of our “broken” health care system. This is no nightmare, maybe to those out of touch evil conservatives it is, but not to you. You can sleep easy tonight, all is right in the world.

Bad Medicine

<img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; As with almost everything, I feel it is more important to get it right than to get it now. The second problem, and perhaps the biggest to me, is that I am being asked to believe that there is a serious problem that I simply can not see. I’m not saying a problem does not exist, I’m just saying I have no first hand knowledge of it. Again, I’m not in denial, I just haven’t seen the evidence. I don’t have to see something to believe in it, I mean I believe there are probably some open minded liberals out there somewhere, yet I have witnessed nothing to affirm that belief. But, for the sake of argument, lets say the Boogey Man exists;
Life is what you make of it. Some people work harder than others. Some people are born into better situations than others. But as our latest Supreme Court nominee shows us, upward mobility is very achievable in this country. I believe health care is like anything else. We can't all drive a Bentley, eat fillet Mignon, and ski in Aspen. Most of us can however get a Hyundai, a piece of chicken, and occasionally tube down Mt. Wachusett. It is the same with visiting the Doctor. If you don't put in what is needed to ensure that your family is taken care of, that is on you, not me. When I say "I don't want to pay" for everybody else, what I mean is this; For the health care of all these uninsured people to get better, the health care of my children MUST necessarily get worse. I find that about as un-American as it gets. The following Article spells out exactly how much the current bills stink.

Article from CNN

Fixing our Economy WhileReforming Healthcare

As I sit here basically dying from a respiratory infection, strep throat, etc., It dawned on me that it is total bullshit that I must wait until late tomorrow to see my doctor to get a prescription for Erythromycin. I know that is what I need, and I will guarantee that is what my doctor will prescribe. So why can't I just go down to CVS and buy some? Why, because some people are stupid. Why must I wait until late tomorrow? Because in this horrible economy, companies like mine have done away with paid time off. So no sick days, no vacation pay, I can't afford to call in sick.

Here is the solution---

Immediately pass legislation allowing anyone over the age of 18 to buy any non-narcotic medicine over the counter. This would allow me to get my damn antibiotics so I can stop being sick. This would also greatly improve the economy and create job openings. How you ask? It is simple, stupid people would mis-diagnose themselves, buy drugs they should not take, overdose on them, and die. Think of all the job opportunities opened up by their sudden demise!

Please call your local representative today and ask them to pass this legislation... I grew up on government subsidised "Free School Lunch", and would have no doubt needed more government assistance if it were not the church we attended helping us out in times of need. That being said....
.
So I'm watching tv on Monday, during the day, (it was a holiday so this is ok for me) and I see a commercial for free cellphones. The add states that everyone needs a cellphone, so the government has made them available. A free phone, with free monthly minutes. The ad states that if you currently recieve foodstamps or other assistance then you most likely qualify. Call to get yours today! So a few minutes later, after my wife revives me from the cardiac arrest this commercial placed me in, and after I brush my teeth (because this ad obviously causes someone like me to vomit), I decide I need to look further into this. This is what I found at www.safelinkwireless.com

Lifeline Benefits

Lifeline Assistance is part of a program that was created by the government to provide discounted or free telephone service to income-eligible consumers. How do people cry about any underfunded social program that might actually help someone, you know, like insurance for kids, when we are now giving people free freakin cellphones. And people wonder why I'm conservative, well this is it folks!!!!

--------------------------------------UPDATE!!!!
It has been pointed out to me that this is not taxpayer funded. I found this hard to believe so I looked deeper. As far as I can tell, some companies claim they are offering this service for free. I assume it so they can sell more prepaid minutes. Don't think for a minute that you do not pay for this! Check your cell phone bill. Look for the "Federal Universal Service Fund" , that is were the federal subsidy comes from. A tax by any other name is still a tax!

Before the Bitching Starts.......

-----So Exxon Mobil made 40 something billion in profits huh. You may instinctively be outraged. You may look back at last summer, paying 4 and change a gallon, and become sick to your stomach to think "these guys" made 45 b-b-b-billion dollars. I say slow down, lets look deeper.
-----First of all, Exxon is a publicly traded company, which means any Tom, Dick, or Harry can buy in. How many people out there have a 401k or IRA or annuity? Oh, you got one, well lets hope whoever is managing it had some Exxon then. Profit is not a bad thing. If you think they made all that money by jacking up the price, be aware, they don't really set the price of gasoline any more than Dominos sets the price of pizza. It stands to reason that if you refine and sell gas for cost plus a markup of say 10%, then if it all of a sudden costs twice as much to make, and you still mark it up 10%, then your profits double. I admit I'm no economist, but it seems reasonable to me.
-----Now keep this in mind, Exxon Mobil made a "profit" of 45.22 Billion dollars. Do you know what their tax rate is? Almost 50%! Put it this way, With out "Big Oil" you could not afford "Big Government". I thought about it for over a year, seriously debated it in my own head for about 6 months, and then spent weeks figuring out how I could pay for it. I find it incredible that the government has spent a fraction of that time figuring out how to spend 819 billion dollars. While I am disheartened that this new welfare package passed in the house this evening, I am delighted that every single republican, along with 10 democrats, voted against it. They are on the right side history my friends.
-----------Thomas Jefferson said "if we can but prevent the government from wasting the labours of the people, under the pretence of taking care of them, they must become happy". You may find Jefferson a bore, or outdated, or dismiss him as a slave owner, to which I would reply you are an ideological zealot at best, a pinko commie at worst. I feel there is infinite wisdom to be found in the words and deeds of the great founders of this nation, the greatest nation ever. Bad things will come from from this massive overspending, it always does. We are being bought for a $500 check that our children will be paying back until they die (This too seemed absurd to Jefferson, check out this letter to James Madison )
President Obama says "This recovery plan will save or create more than three million new jobs over the next few years". That is one of the most unprovable and assanine statements our new leader could make. So if Americans lose 5 million jobs are we to believe that without this "stimulus", we wold have lost 8 million? I believe it was President Obama who while running for the office said "you can put lipstick on a pig, but its still a pig". Well keep piling on the Revlon sir, because this pig of yours is uglying up the place in a hurry!

------------- Check out the complete stroke job here

THE OBESE POLICE

Boston Globe article on Deval's newest initiative: http://tinyurl.com/8xnb8u

Don't get me wrong here, I'm all for restaurants letting you know the calories/carbs/fat/protein breakdown in their meals, but please, please, please don't make them print them right their next to the descriptions. If I'm ordering Alice Springs Chicken at Outback, I already know it's bad. A piece of otherwise healthy chicken smothered in tasty sauce, sauteed mushrooms, bacon, and cheese, with fries on the side has to bad for you, really freakin bad for you, but please let me enjoy my infrequent gluttony in blissful ignorance! It is not as if I'm eating like this with any regularity. But this is not really my gripe here.

They say "It Takes a Village"to raise a child. Well, here in Mass, our government officials are "The Village People" indeed. Does anyone really need a report from the school letting them know that little Johny could stand to lose a few? I was always a chubby kid. I knew it, my parents knew it, and my peers knew it. I can't imagine that a detailed report on my fatness provided at the already financially strapped school system's (i.e. taxpayers') expense would have been a great tool in my parent's quest to quell by obesity. People are who they are, letters from school will not make parents stop buying the groceries they buy. The Village People can not save them from themselves. If a parent is so inattentive, or so stupid, as to not realize that their kid is overweight, what makes people think getting a report from school will change them?
So Deval Patrick, having failed on his campaign promise to offer real property tax relief, failed to get his all important casinos built, failed at virtually everything, is now going to all out to stop childhood obesity. Well, given his track record so far, I guess they should start ordering larger desks for the schools right away!

Self-hating Americans

You have to read this article;

www.philly.com/dailynews/local/20081211_His_boss_flags_Old_Glory.html

After hearing about this, I thought to myself; When, if ever, is it inappropriate to display an American flag? I have pondered it, and I have failed to come up with a scenario where I think it could be offensive, or disorderly. I suppose the sub-human scum down in Gitmo may take offense to the flying of Old Glory, and it may be an unwelcome sight in some Afghani caves, but how the hell do American citizens find it distasteful?
The most outrageous part of the story is that the ACLU defends the supervisor saying, when at work, your boss owns you. Imagine if the supervisor had told an employee to cut their dreadlocks, or take down a Hispanic heritage themed item, or remove a rainbow sticker, you know the ACLU would turn that fight into a championship title bout!
So if this guy can't fly his flag, I'll fly one for him, and I'll be flying my middle finger at self hating Americans while I'm at it!

Freedom of the press

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081126/tv_nm/us_fairness;_ylt=Ah3VefQiSZqFbp_3lBJTuyFxFb8C

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Aside from the "fairness" doctrine being violently unconstitutional, it is also uneconomical. There are 2 reasons conservatives vastly outnumber progressives/liberals on talk radio. Number 1 is entertainment. People like Sean Hannity and Jay Severin are entertaining. Agree or disagree with their ideas, politics, values, or whatever, but they are in the entertainment business, and their business is good. Reason number 2 is profitability. Radio stations exist for the same reason as construction companys, banks, gas stations, etc. They are there to make $$$$$$$$$!!! Conservatives who are inclined to listen to talk radio tend to do so during their commute to or from work. While at work they earn income, which in turn gives them money, money that they may choose to spend at a business, a business that may pay a radio station with a top rated show that targets their demographic, a demographic that works, and spends. See where I'm going here? The reason there aren't more left of center radio programs (while on TV the roles reverse) is because they don't make money. Businesses don't buy ad space on shows that are not being heard by people that can or will patronize them. Businesses that cater to low or non earning citizens (you know, businesses like ambulance chasing scum bag attornies!) find their target demographic on television, because those who would patronize them are at home, on the couch, watching the tube.

Left wing radio doesn't work. See Air America. If there is such a thing as justice, may Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, and Chuck Schumer all be tarred and feathered for their attack against liberty!

Activists or Assholes?

Let me preface this with... I am not against gay marriage. I don't see any reason to ban it. It just doesn't make a difference in my family's life. Don't get me wrong, I'm not about to march on Salt Lake City, or protest the local Sister's of Mercy in outrage over California's Proposition 8, but if I had to vote on it, I'd say live and let live, do what makes you happy.

That said, this class action lawsuit in New Jersey, and now in California, is absolute HORSE SHEEEITE! They sued Eharmony for not having a gay section, and now Eharmony must of course pay out some cash, and set up a gay site. Whatever happened to common sense. Why can't a company single out the type of people they want to serve and serve them. This is like me suing the local Ford dealership because they won't sell me a Mazda, when there are 5 Mazda dealerships within driving range. Now I'll admit I have not researched it, but I'm willing to bet a paycheck or two that there are plenty of websites out there that cater to helping gay people find a relationship. This is obviously a case of an ambulance chasing dirtbag attorney looking to make a score, regardless of how it affects his or her client.

In the end, I am inclined to believe this hurts, rather than helps, the gay communities' cause. This is just the type of stuff that causes social conservatives to say "see, they gays won't stop until they have force fed their agenda into everyone's life". What is next, suing department stores for not selling gay enough clothing, or insisting on a gay quota of workers or student admissions?

Right is right and wrong is wrong, and this lawsuit is just plain wrong!

http://www.edgeboston.com/index.php?ch=news&sc=&sc2=features&sc3=&id=83607

A Little Q & A

Question- When the CEO of GM made 14 million last year (and the company lost almost 40 Billion), and Ford's CEO made 20, why the the hell are we even considering bailing these losers out?
Answer- Because that is the precedent we have set! Only the producers of SNL would be happier than the mainstream media douche bags would be with Obama vs. Palin in 4 years.

Question- Why is a President-elect Obama who is supposedly going to "change" Washington filling his cabinet with Clinton era Washington insiders?
Answer- Even he must know that Hillary (even though she is Satan) would have been a better choice.

Question- How do CEOs like Citigroup's Vikram Pandit lay off over 50,000 people, and not forgo their own year end bonuses.
Answer- I have no F'n idea! When I figure out how to cause my company to lose BILLIONS and be rewarded with multi-million dollar paychecks, I'll be sure to share the secret!

Conservative; Not Republican

All too often people assume that to be a conservative is to be Republican. Republicans were just whooped in the national election, at every level. Conservatives were not. There was not a conservative choice. John McCain is no conservative (and for those of you who love to equate the two, neither is the degenerate deficit spending W.). While the senator from Arizona tried to appeal to conservatives, most of us saw him for what he was all along, a liberal masquerading as a conservative in an attempt to "galvanize" the GOP base. Conservatives do not fight for open borders, amnesty for criminal aliens, and taxpayer funded bailouts. Nor do they fight against free speech, fair taxation, or the rights of individual states. McCain has, does, and will.

To me, true conservatism is simply "Constitutionalism". Unlike many on the left, I believe that the founders of the United States laid a path for what has become not only the greatest nation of today, but the greatest nation of all time. A leftist might like to expound on the shortcomings of the Constitution, such as not abolishing slavery or extending voting rights to women. However, the fact that these issues were corrected, through an amendment process intrinsic to it's survival, shows us that our patriotic forefathers knew that there was work yet to be done in the name of liberty. Conservatism is believing in the United States Constitution. It is believing that we are all free to govern ourselves. I believe in the rights of the individual states, and in the collective strength of the nation. I believe that a state should be free to govern itself, without the fear of the federal government withholding monies paid into by that state's residents.

My brand of conservatism is this; The federal government owes us very little, and as such we owe it very little. It owes us liberty by ensuring no states make laws that violate the Constitution. It owes us interstate transportation systems such as highways, railroads, and airports. It owes us protection in the form of a military. It owes us peace of mind in the form of reasonable regulation of financial markets and interstate/global commerce. It owes us a sense of our heritage and culture through national parks, museums, libraries, monuments, etc. While one could make a case for a few things that currently elude me, there is not a whole lot more that the federal government was intended to do.

Uncle Sam does not owe you a job, a house, an income, a clean needle, a marriage, or a sandwich. He simply owes you the right to attain these things yourself.

This is conservatism, this is freedom, this is liberty.

Can I keep a crumb?

We payed a lot of taxes today. It costs my family $10 dollars a day in property taxes for the privilege of living in my town. I payed $11.75 in taxes to fill the gas tank in the jeep; That is $.184 per gallon for the feds and $.235 per gallon for the Peoples Republic on 28 gallons. Pack of cigarettes; $2.51 for The Peoples Republic and $.39 for the feds, and oh yeah we pay additional 5% in state sales tax on that tax (double jeopardy?). Throw the $.08 on the cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee and I'm in the hole for $24.88 before I even hit the highway. If I'm lucky enough to avoid any other purchases during the day, I get out of work having paid $24.34 to the federal government (so someone else can refinance their house that they should not have bought), $10.62 to Taxachusetts (so they can NOT fix any of our roads or bridges), $3.87 for Medicare (such a shining pillar of government run healthcare), and $16.54 for social security (that I will most likely never see a penny of). Add on the nickels and dimes of cell phone tax (over 10 cents a day), tax on your cable bill, tax on your electric bill, heating oil or gas bill, and I'm well over $85.00 a day in taxes. $85.00 per day, and now my town tells my wife that they won't take our recyclables unless we buy their $3.00 a piece trash bags. Hey at least Obama's tax calculator is going to "give" us back $6.40 per working day, I can't wait to get that tax burden down to just $80.00 a day!!!!!!

LIBERTY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What?

I realize that Sharpie has yet to add spell check to it's fine line of permanent markers, but this was just too much.
